WELCOME TO OUR NECK OF THE WOODS!
Mainstay Bakery began in April 2018 as an idea to bring artisan bread to Scituate, MA and its surrounding communities. We chose “Mainstay” as our name to reflect not only the rich sailing history of our town, but also our belief that delicious bread can be the cornerstone of any healthy meal. We make our bread the way it’s been done for centuries – handmade, in small batches and using a sourdough culture that’s been nurtured and passed down by generations of New England bakers since the late 1700's. Our bread is allowed to ferment slowly - resulting in a loaf that’s more flavorful, more nutritious and easier to digest than ones made with fast-acting commercial yeast.
Since 2018, we have expanded our bakery offerings to include an eclectic array of artisan bread, morning pastries, desserts, wholesome snacks and take-away meals. All of our goods are made from scratch and baked fresh at our “Bread Barn” kitchen. Our menus change weekly and are often driven by what’s in season, what's produced locally and what’s inspiring us at the moment.
Generally, we bake twice weekly and operate on a "pre-order" basis. Menus are released at the beginning of the week and customers submit their orders for pick up later in the week. Although subject to change, pick up days and times are usually Friday afternoons (from 3 PM to 6 PM) and Sunday mornings (from 9 AM until noon).
